Why are we obsessed with Criminal obsessions?

Thursday, 5 December 2013

Criminal obsessions: why harm matters more than crime, published back in 2008, is still hitting the top spot on our website and is the most downloaded publication in the last eight weeks.

Criminal obsessions offers a groundbreaking and innovative critique of academic, policy and political focus on 'crime' and criminal justice. The essays discuss how social harm relates to social and economical inequalities. Contributors to the edited collection include Danny Dorling, Dave Gordon, Paddy Hillyard, Christina Pantazis, Simon Pemberton and Steve Tombs.

Engaging with the perspectives on offer has encouraged the Centre to reach out to a wider range of disciplines and has informed our subsequent work in an attempt to better understand and develop responses to many predictable and preventable social harms experienced in contemporary society.
