YJB executive paid £44,000 expenses in error

Thursday, 18 July 2013

The National Audit Office (NAO) has raised concerns about travel expense payments of £44,000 to Ray Hill, a deputy chief executive at the Youth Justice Board (YJB). Mr Hill was paid more than £44,000 to cover the cost of journeys from his home in the north west of England to the YJB's central London headquarters after being wrongly categorised as 'working from home'.

A spokesman for the YJB said:

'These matters have been fully disclosed and we are now working to ensure all governance, remuneration and tax matters are properly addressed.'

The NAO statement is available on its website.
