'Super prisons' part of Grayling's modernisation agenda

Wednesday, 4 September 2013

The Ministry of Justice has announced plans for a number of new 'super-prisons' housing up to 2000 people in each and a series of closures. Super prisons are planned for Feltham and another in Wrexham in North Wales. It is reported that the new development in Wales will create around 1000 jobs and boost the local economy by around £23m per year, althought the validity of some of the figures have been questioned.
