Police will struggle with further budget cuts

Friday, 19 July 2013

The Inspectorate of Constabulary claims that police forces will struggle to make additional budget cuts. Neighbourhood policing could face particular pressures, the Inspectorate argues, with officers being asked to prioritise emergency calls.

A study by the Centre for Crime and Justice Studies in 2010 found that spending on the police in England and Wales had grown by nearly 50 percent, in real terms, between 1999 and 2009.
