Duncan Smith believes he is right

In a surprising development, a government minister has claimed that he believes that he is right.

Iain Duncan Smith, the Work and Pensions Secretary, was defending himself against accusations of false claims about the impact of benefits changes. Speaking on BBC Radio 4 he said:

'You cannot disprove what I have said. I believe this to be right. I believe we are already seeing people going back to work who were not going back to work until this group were capped.'

Mr Duncan Smith has previously been accused by the Office for National Statistics of misrepresenting benefit statistics.
