Court rules smoking ban should apply to prisons

Thursday, 5 March 2015

A prisoner at HMP Wymott has won a landmark ruling against Chris Grayling in the High Court which would force prisons in England and Wales to enforce the smoking ban, BBC News reports

The Justice Secretary argued that Crown immunity means the smoking ban doesn't apply to prisons, a point rejected by the judge. Grayling has time to appeal before the ruling is applied.
