Justice Matrix

New project: The Justice Matrix

The Centre for Crime and Justice Studies has begun work on a new project using 'big data'. The Justice Matrix will aim to create a virtual world by combining criminal justice and social datasets to simulate the criminalisation process.

We are working in collaboration with the University of Salford, and the project is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council. Read more about the Justice Matrix here.

Justice Matrix

The Justice Matrix is a virtual world that places the user in the shoes of government ministers and their advisers. It offers a conceptual schema for understanding the dynamic relationship between crime, society and the policy-making process.

Combining criminal justice and social datasets, it will simulate the process of criminalisation in the UK, offering a powerful tool for predicting the likely real world impact of given policy innovations.
