Justice matters in Cardiff too!

Tuesday, 17 May 2016

Earlier this month Helen Mills and Rebecca Roberts of the Centre for Crime and Justice Studies visited Cardiff Met University to facilitate our Justice Matters: Creating change workshop.

A group of students and practitioners studying the Youth and Community Practice course took part. The workshop aims to encourage participants to think through short- and long-term solutions to a range of social harms and problems that do not rely on criminal justice interventions.

Louise Cook, Youth and Community Lecturer at Cardiff Met University said;

I feel the workshop stimulated meaningful reflection, discussion and debate and provided students with a valuable opportunity to begin to explore the ideological assumptions inherent in current criminal justice systems and begin to generate alternative ideas. The workshop aligned effectively with the values underpinning professional youth and community practice and is, in my opinion, to be recommended.
