Benefit cheat crackdown

Keir Starmer, the Director of Public Prosecutions is to set out new guidelines for the Crown Prosecution Service on the prosecution of 'middle class' and 'professional' cheats. The Times front page reads 'Ten year jail term for benefit fraudsters: Middle class cheats targeted in new crackdown'. The Daily Mail headline - 'benefits cheats face ten years in prison: prosecutors told to treat them like bank fraudsters'.  Owen Jones is interviewed on the BBC website discussing the disproportionate application of the law.
