The House Magazine has published an article by Richard Garside on the impact of Covid on trends in imprisonment.
Covid-19 has presented an opportunity to re-think the way we live, and yet, prisons remain stuck in a condition of decline. This, according to Richard in The House Magazine, is the result of 'policy inertia' at the heart of prisons policy.
There's always a better use for a piece of land than as a place for a prison, and the pandemic could be a catalyst for thinking about ways to reduce our reliance on imprisonment.
