The latest edition of Probation Quarterly features a piece by our Director, Richard Garside, on criminal justice trends in retrospect and their signification of a flawed, accidental and incomplete liberalism. 

Tackling fluctuating police numbers, the dangerous condition of prisons, the flawed probation services and the inherent injustices of our criminal justice system, Richard concludes that we're facing a return to a more punitive criminal justice system.

The question is, how do we find opportunities to create just social policies, shrink the criminal justice footprint and commit to a more holistic approach to harm and crime reduction?
