About the event
The Centre for Crime and Justice Studies will be hosting an seminar with Dr Baz Dreisinger of John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. She is the author of Incarceration Nations: A Journey to Justice in Prisons Around the World (2016).
In an attempt to gain a global perspective on prison and its use across a diverse range of nations, Baz Dreisinger visited prisons in nine countries across the world. In this seminar, she will reflect on her experiences and how these have impacted on her understanding of imprisonment and how what she saw can help us to reimagine justice.

Speaker
Dr Baz Dreisinger is a professor, journalist, justice worker, film and radio producer, cultural critic and prison-rights activist.
Based in the English department at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City, she is the founder and Academic Director of the Prison-to-College Pipeline program, which offers college courses and reentry planning to incarcerated men throughout New York State, and broadly works to increase access to higher education for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals.
