Helen Mills
Associate: Research and policy

Helen joined the Centre for Crime and Justice Studies in 2008 and is an experienced social researcher. Her research work at CCJS has included assessing the impact of the changes to community-based sentences introduced in the 2003 Criminal Justice Act, a qualitative exploration of voluntary and community organisations predominately working with black young people affected by crime in England, and an analysis of the last decade of criminal justice spending in England and Wales.

Helen is currently researching the challenges that face strategies to halt and reserve prison growth, and undertaking work to understand more about ex-prisoners convicted of sexual offences journeys from prison to stable housing. She previously worked as a researcher for Victim Support London and Barnardo's Policy and Research Unit.
