Helen Mills
Research and policy associate

Helen is currently responsible for two research projects at CCJS. The first is about the impact of the generic community order on probation practice and the second about community based approaches to working with BME young people affected by crime.

Helen is an experienced researcher, particularly regarding qualitative research, evaluation and engaging with `hard to reach' groups. She previously worked as a researcher for Victim Support London and Barnardo's Policy and Research Unit carrying out research projects across the social care, education and criminal justice sectors. She has produced work on a wider range of topics including, older people's experiences of crime, the outcomes of young victims services, inclusive play projects and user-led research. In addition Helen has also facilitated research skills training for managers and practitioners.

Helen is particularly interested in the links between research, policy and practice, inequality and young people.
