More female staff needed urgently in immigration detention

Two male guards have been sacked for ‘sexual activity’ with a female detainee. A female guard was also fired for failing to bring the situation to attention after female victim came forward, The Daily Mail reports.

An inspection carried out concluded that there is no evidence to suggest that this type abuse is widespread across the centre however there is an urgent need to employ more female staff, especially in a centre which holds mainly adult women.
