Child abuse prosecutions down as search engines step up content control

Google, Microsoft  and Yahoo are among companies that plan to block common search terms linked to child abuse images, The Guardian reports. The search engine giants aim to block more than 100,000 terms associated with online child abuse.

In other news, shadow home secretary, Yvette Cooper, has released official figures suggesting that the number of child sex abuse cases being sent for prosecution by the police has dropped by nearly one-third over the past two years.
