Reclaim Holloway campaign launch new website

Tuesday, 31 May 2016

Women in Prison, in collaboration with the Reclaim Justice Network, have set up a website for their campaign demanding that council housing be built on the site of soon-to-be sold Holloway prison. The prison is due to be closed this summer and the land will likely be sold to property developers to build luxury flats that very few people can afford. The campaign says the prison's closure is also an opportunity to protect and invest in community facilities and women's support services, such as for domestic violence and mental health. There's a petition on the website that you can sign if you want to support the campaign.

The website launch follows a demonstration at Holloway prison earlier this month organised by the Reclaim Justice Network and Islington Kill the Housing Bill. Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, whose constituency contains Holloway prison, popped along in support. You can read about the demo on the campaign website.
