Conference agenda released

Women in Prison and the Centre for Crime and Justice Studies have released the provisional agenda for the 'Justice Matters for women: Time for action!' conference taking place in London on Wednesday 20 May 2015.

We will be hearing from a range of speakers with campaigning experience within and outside the criminal justice system.

Provisional agenda

1. Setting the context:

  • From criminal justice to social justice: making the case

  • Empower women, resist injustice, transform lives
    Rebecca Roberts, Centre for Crime and Justice Studies

2. Building a movement for change: GUEST SPEAKER Betty Makoni, Chief Executive Officer, Girl Child Network World WideHear her inspirational story behind building a girls' empowerment movement, her work as a human rights activist against gender based violence and her belief in the power of campaigning.

3. Justice matters for women: (Chair, Sara Hyde)

  • Empowering women, resisting injustice and transforming lives
    Speakers from User Voice Women's Service User Council in London followed by discussion group sessions on responding to women, what needs to change?
