This project is part of Doncaster Rape and Sexual Abuse Counselling Centre (DRSACC) which, as an organisation, support and work with people aged 14 and over who have experienced sexual abuse or violence at any time in their lives. The DoVEs project in particular, works with offenders within HMP and YOI Doncaster who have been victims of domestic abuse. The project has been running for two years and is built around a person-centred approach. The offenders are involved in devising the name and framework for the project. Key values of choice and self-determination within this therapy provide a very different approach compared to other prison programmes, which are mainly based around addressing behaviours. Raising awareness about the strong links between violence and sexual abuse and offending amongst prison staff has also been a significant part of the projects work. The project has eight full-time staff and four volunteers.
