Probation Resources, Staffing and Workloads 2001-2008
Dr Mark Oldfield and Dr Roger Grimshaw (April 2008)
This report is the first objective and independent study of funding and workloads in the National Probation Service. It was commissioned by Napo, the trade union and professional association for family court and probation staff. Based on interviews with probation staff, reports by probation areas, and an in-depth analysis of financial and workforce statistics, the research portrays the Service struggling to cope and facing budget uncertainties amid moves towards the promotion of competition and potential privatisation. |
