'Partners or Prisoners? Voluntary sector independence in the world of commissioning and contestability', a Centre for Crime and Justice Studies report on the voluntary sector's involvement in the criminal justice system.

The report draws together themes from a debate held as part of the Centre for Crime and Justice Studies annual event for 2008, which featured a panel composed of Tina Jenkins (Ministry of Justice), Clive Martin (Clinks) and Matthew Smerdon (The Baring Foundation). The event was chaired by Mark Easton (BBC) and raised a number of issues, including: identity and independence; the changing nature of work; shaping contracts; the third sector and the market of punishment.
