Thousands using payday loans to pay rent

Payday lending companies are being investigated as more people are using loans to pay their rent and mortgages. Shelter reported that there were 9,000 calls to their helpline last year, a 30 per cent increase from 2012.

Heavy penalties are issued by the lending companies to those unable to maintain their payments leading people to struggle further in their attempts to clear their debts, reports the Metro.
