Short term sentence bad for the convicted

Tuesday, 26 November 2013

Lord Neuberger, President of the Supreme Court, has rejected the idea that ‘the clang of the prison gates’ helps stop re-conviction, according to reports in The Daily Mail. The comments were made after visiting Holloway women’s prison in north London.

Lord Neuberger went on to say that short term prison sentences can be disruptive for prisoners' work and home life, criticised the small amount spent on prisoners food and raised concerns about overcrowding.
