Punishing women with prison

Jenny Earle of the Prison Reform Trust argues that 'reducing women’s incarceration is not just a criminal justice issue, it involves a range of social equality and social justice issues that women face and addressing them will increase 'women’s autonomy, opportunities, and dignity.  '

Earle, writing on the Open Democracy website, goes on to criticise the remodeling of women's prison arguing that most solutions lie outside the prison walls.
