Probation staff walk out in privatisation protest

Probation staff are set to stage a walk out in protest at government plans to privatise the majority of probation work, The Guardian reports today.

Ian Lawrence, acting general secretary of probation and family court staff union Napo, said:

'If it's not bad enough that this government doesn't care about jobs, professionalism and people's livelihoods, not caring about public safety is a downright disgrace and a total failure on their part to fulfil their duty to society.'
