Centre announces changes to membership and cjm

Friday, 10 July 2015

The Centre for Crime and Justice Studies has announced a simplification of its membership structure, and changes to Criminal Justice Matters (cjm) magazine.

Simplified membership structure

From now on there will be two options:

Category Description   Rate
Standard membership This is the category for those in full-time employment who are able to pay the full membership rate   £30
Low income membership This is the category for those studying full time, those who are on lower incomes and those who have retired   £20

The different price bands for different parts of the world are also being removed. From now on there will be a flat-rate membership fee, regardless of location.

Pause on the production of cjm

The Centre will be pausing the production of cjm for a year from the end of 2015. During this year off it will be developing plans for the launch of a new, improved cjm in 2017.

The Centre's Director, Richard Garside, said:

'We want to make it easier for people to support our work and to help us to plan our future activities. A simplified, lower cost membership is part of this.

'We have been publishing cjm since 1989. It's a magazine we are very proud of and one that our readers value. We also think it can be improved.

'Having thought long and hard, we concluded that we needed the time and space to rethink cjm. We'll be developing our plans over the rest of the year, ready for the launch of a new, improved cjm in 2017'.
