Alternatives to custody event in Birmingham
On Friday, 25 September, the preliminary findings of research led by economist Siddhartha Bandyopadhyay on the relative effectiveness of non-custodial sentences will be presented at a workshop at the University of Birmingham.
There will also be talks by:
- Zoe Stephenson and Tony Beech (University of Birmingham) on 'The use and implementation of alternatives to imprisonment in Europe';
- Clifford Grimason (HMP Hewell);
- Sonia Bhalotra (University of Essex) on 'The price of gold: dowry and death in India'.
The event will conclude with a summary and discussion on the future of alternatives to custody and ways to reduce violence, with Ken Pease, our Director Richard Garside, and Siddhartha Bandyopadhyay.
