112 English councils issue 156,000 court summonses: 450,000 in court

Approximately 450,000 people have been taken to court since April this year for non-payment of council tax. Shadow Communities Secretary Hilary Benn said David Cameron needed 'to wake up to what's happening across the country' where 'people on the lowest income are struggling to pay his council tax rises' according to BBC News online.
