‘Back to work’ legally flawed

Thursday, 31 October 2013

The Supreme Court has dismissed the Department for Work and Pensions’ appeal against a Court of Appeal ruling that ‘back to work scheme’ that the scheme did not contain sufficiently detailed ‘prescibed descriptions’ of the scheme, The Guardian reports.

The ruling would have resulted in the government having to refund £130m to around 250,000 people for unlawful sanctioning had emergency retroactive legislation not been introduced in  the spring.
