Centre for Crime and Justice Studies, King's College London, announces the appointment of its new Director (05/12/06)
The Centre for Crime and Justice Studies would like to announce the appointment of Richard Garside as its new Director, following the recent death of the Centre's former director, Una Padel, from cancer. Richard had been the Centre's acting director since early this year and has already done much to develop CCJS's reputation for providing reasoned, thorough and objective comment, analysis, research and information on a range of crime and criminal justice issues.
Prior to taking up this post, Richard was the director of the Crime and Society Foundation, where he still holds the position of Chair. Previously he was the Head of Communications at Nacro.
Speaking today, Richard said:
“It is a great honour to take on the role of director of an organisation as important as the Centre for Crime and Justice Studies. There has scarce been a more pressing need for reasoned debate and informed policy related to crime and criminal justice. I am looking forward to working with all the staff in continuing the Centre's important work providing independent information, analysis, research and critique of crime and justice issues.”
